If haven’t heard, Workspot has created some pretty incredible partnerships with hyper converged companies. Together, we’re working to help SMBs maximize their HCI investments. One of our partnerships is with Scale Computing. It has been so successful that recently we entered new discussions to create even greater value for our customers.
A new turnkey VDI solution
On Tuesday, Workspot and Scale inked a pretty big agreement that extends our partnership to create a simple turnkey VDI solution. It’s just in time for customers using Citrix’s VDI-in-a-Box product, which has officially reached its end-of-life.
This new product features a pre-integrated solution that combines Workspot’s VDI 2.0 with Scale’s hyperconverged infrastructure. It’s ideal for SMBs looking to replace VDI-in-a-Box, as well as any SMB looking for a VDI solution that can be up and running in less than an hour.
Good news travels fast
We’re not the only ones excited about the news. Even though we only made the announcement two days ago, two news agencies have already picked up the story.
Canada’s popular tech blog Channel Buzz published an article about our partnership with Scale. One of the quotes was particularly pertinent for SMBs wondering whether this pre-integrated VDI solution will work for them:
“While [Workspot and Scale] are claiming their solution can be up in 60 minutes, for half the normal cost of a VDI deployment, [Jason] Collier [Scale’s co-founder] said that some customers are doing better than that. ‘Last week, a customer tweeted out that he connected it in 10 minutes,” he stated. “With Workspot, you pay for a subscription service, never a perpetual license. When combined with Scale’s elastic infrastructure, it’s made in heaven.’”
Another quote in that article features some insight from Doug Howell, Scale’s Global Director of OEM Sales. It helps clarify how the integrated products come together:
"The Workspot solution…is offered as a SKU by Scale, rather than as a specific appliance. 'We spent a lot of time and energy integrating the two products, with both engineering teams working closely together,' Howell said. 'They aren’t just velcroed together. To manage VDI, you don’t ever need to log into the Scale console except for the original template...It’s all handled through Workspot."
An independent IT blog with offices in London, Sydney, and San Francisco, The Register featured an insight about the Scale partnership from Jason Collier:
"Our primary driver is simplicity and Workspot is simple. … Through the Worksport cloud portal you select a VDI template and the number of desktops and that’s it, a couple of clicks."
